We have spent all summer growing our vegetable garden (which is located at Como Lake Middle School) and the kids got to help strengthen the garden fencing we put in last year. Here are some photos of the garden, and one of the kids helping to reinforce the fencing.
Our garden is a year round project. Every school takes a turn at looking after the gardening. Kateslem kids grow all the veggies and fruits and use them in our program… and whatever excess we have goes home to their families. This year’s crop was the biggest ever… we had tomatoes, beans, peas, radishes, green onions, zucchinis, peppers, squash and cucumber.
We will have lots of healthy veggies to start September with!

Our Walk in June raised almost $8,000!

Our summer program is up and running at Como Lake Middle School for July…
And will be operating during August at Banting Middle School.
Dragon Boat Races:
The Kateslem Dragon Boat Team took first place in dragon boating racing this year, despite it being EXTREMELY wet!
Year End Field Trip:
The Kateslem Kids had a blast horseback riding, at the Kateslem Year End Field Trip!

The 2015 Fall Season has been a busy one, here at Kateslem!
Our Kateslem Thanksgiving Dinner was a huge success, with about 160 people attending. We cooked 7 turkeys, and everyone left very full!
Hillcrest Middle School will be hosting our Kateslem Halloween Costume Party on October 30th, from 3:00 to 5:30 pm.
Como Lake Middle School will be having a Kateslem Lacrosse Clinic on Fridays, during the month of November, run by Karyn’s dad, Coach Joe.
And, perhaps our MOST exciting news…
The Kateslem After-School Program in Coquitlam is expanding to Glen Elementary, starting in January!

Kateslem opens at Summit, Como Lake and Banting Middle Schools, on September 9th… (the first full day of school)
Kateslem opens at Hillcrest Middle School on Monday, September 14th.
All new Kateslem youth are asked to meet at the Office that day after school, so we can show them to the Kateslem rooms.
Available spots for the Kateslem Program vary by school, and change more quickly than this page is updated, so please contact Karyn, or your School’s Principal, to find out if spots are available.
